Reboot – The Canadian Heritage Information Network
RealDecoy worked closely with the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) to restructure, develop and launch their web presence. RealDecoy worked with CHIN to reorganize their online presence into three distinct web sites:
The Virtual Museum of Canada: www.museevirtuel-virtualmuseum.ca
Featuring virtual exhibits from over 1600 museums from across Canada,
The Professional Exchange: www.pro.rcip-chin.gc.ca
A collaborative digital resource for heritage professionals,
The CHIN Corporate Site: www.rcip-chin.gc.ca
Providing background information on CHIN, and its role in promoting Canadian Heritage.
Why RealDecoy?
The Canadian Heritage Information Network selected RealDecoy for this major project because of our expertise and experience in developing successful websites. Our process-driven methodology, technology agnostic approach and our considerable experience in implementing projects for other cultural institutions were key considerations.
Blending leading technology with user centric design
With thousands of pages and millions of artifacts, a critical measure of success for the new sites is their ease of use. Architected on top of the industry leading Endeca Information Access Platform, the new web sites allow users to search, browse and discover the rich content available in ways not previously possible. The use of leading edge technology, coupled with a functional and attractive user interface resulted in three websites that have received exceptional feedback and results.
Extensive cultural and heritage experience
RealDecoy has extensive experience working with Museums and heritage institutions and a strong understanding the issues that affect them. We have launched websites for the National Gallery of Canada, the Virtual Museum of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Royal Tyrrell Museum and the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. We have provided strategic consultation and planning for the Canada Science and Technology Museum, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and the Canada Aviation Museum.
